But everything else they say is pretty factual. Like:
Unsustainability. Product in is greater than product out. Cows weigh like 1,000 lbs and for sure they eat over their weight in crop over their lifespans (or not if theyre just meat cows, idk)
If people significantly cut…
You said a “video of a fucked up slaughter house” wouldn’t turn someone vegetarian, and in fact would turn them off. This is the problem. The ethical aspect of veganism is just as important (if not more so) than the factual side. Animals are suffering and no being should go through this, how is that not enough for you?
You seem to have a basic understanding of the facts that you find so compelling, just go vegan already.?
More so the calling people murderers thing. As animals in our diet is so normal, you think theyre gonna react nicely to being accused of “murder”?
And i bring up the graphic videos because those are not how all houses operate. I think its a good thing to being light to the bad ones so we might be able to do something about it, though.
I dont go vegan because animal products are so prevalent in too many things. And really its a hassle to alter every meal, ESPECIALLY out with friends. It tastes good, and i dont have any problems with eating animals, as we are animals, and part of the food chain. Really i just have no need to.
Though, health wise, im trying to cut back on certain foods like cheese or red meat.
I had chickens for a while for eggs but had to get rid of them because my dog did “murder” them. Lol
I understand fully what you are trying to say. Obviously there was a point in my life when I was the same way. Ultimately, the point is that our collective efforts will change society, because it is DEMAND that makes society we live in, NOT supply. I agree Theres a social pressure and the way society is today makes being a vegan a difficult way of life to lead. I know it taste good. I know its easy to just not care. But when a person with intelligence such as yourself sees the damage eating meat does to the world, and what becomes of the animals, and continues to make excuses, you’re simply a part of the problem. I hope that you would at the very least consider giving up eating meat, you’d really be doing a lot of good for the planet, and animals!
Thats why i want to start buying local. It helps small businesses here and takes away from factory shit holes :D
And refraining from owning pets would also save recourses, but we enjoy owning pets. Or perhaps a better analogy would be coffee. I LOVEEE coffee. Id say i have an addiction. Logically it would be better if i cut back or even stopped, but i enjoy it too much
Typed out, non of these really work as i know the difference between my opinion and yours is the idea of morality in the killing of animals for our gain. I understand this.
Same with the abortion debate like i said. One side sees value in the life that is a fertilized egg or growing fetus, the other does not.
I simply dont see all animals as that high of a value of life. However, i think if we want to consume them (esp in a country that has a surplus of food and isnt dependent on them) we should respect them in that we should cause as little pain as possible during death, and give them a comfortable life. Factory farms do not do this. But small farms are more likely to
Im sorry we disagree, but thank you very sincerely that we got to discuss civilly. :3 gotta go to work though haha
How disappointing. Comparing a craving for meat to a caffeine addiction, and sentient animals that have cognitive abilities to that of a 3 year old, to fetuses, as if they have no brains at all? Weak.
Treating sentience as if it can be argued as an opinion is a grave mistake. I truly hope you can try to entertain this idea.
If you think you love animals but eat them too, you’re fucking lying to yourself
An incredible documentary on the relations between non-human animals and ourselves. A must watch.
